William A. “Bill” Cody, 78, of Miller Grove, passed away on October 12, 2015 at Baylor University Medical Center of Dallas. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Darty and Bro. Ray Crumpton officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bill was born on February 9, 1937 in Greenville to Haskell and Bonnie Reynolds Cody. He married Barbara Back on September 14, 1956 in Campbell, Texas.

After 40 years of service with the Texas Highway Patrol, he retired as Lieutenant. Bill was a member of the County Line Baptist Church of Miller Grove where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher for 15 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Sulphur Springs.

Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Cody of Miller Grove; daughters, Lorna Beasley and husband, David of Miller Grove, Karen Rushing and husband, Joe of Dallas; sisters, Bobbie Mills and husband, Markley of Garfield, Arkansas, Bonnie Walker and husband, Johnnie of Arlington; brother-in-law, George W. Back and wife, Trudy of Miller Grove; grandchildren, Lindsey and Danny Hofstetter, Amanda and Geoff Chappell, Shelly and Joseph Miller; great-grandchildren, Penny Hofstetter, Hailey and Andrew Chappell, Colton Read, Chelsea Whitfield, Keegan and Faith Miller; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Adult II Sunday School Class will serve as the honorary pallbearers.

    Words can not describe the thankfulness I have to God for being able to know Bill Cody. A kind & precious man ~ a genuine man of God.
    ~ the mold was broken ~
