Traffic on Greenville’s Wesley Street should move just a bit faster. Kathy Lucas, Greenville Public Information Officer, said, “repairs should be complete by Monday or Tuesday”. Spring rains during March caused serious sewer blockages in several businesses along the busy thoroughfare. Several businesses complained of sewer backups then. The City Council met in an emergency meeting and authorized emergency repairs.
Public Works Director, John Wright, said, “this line was scheduled to be replaced in 2019 but the recent blockage caused the city to take care of it sooner than anticipated”. So far a little over $320,000. Has been spent. City crews spent $10,000 in overtime and repair during March.
