West Washington Street in Greenville was blocked off from the railroad at Katy Street to Sayle Street due to a water main break. City repair crews worked almost 48-hours to repair the twelve-inch water main break.

A public works spokesperson said, “many reasons could include the hot, dry weather; tree roots, or aging pipes.” Residents noticed water leaking during the weekend. Finally, the break bubbled to the surface by Tuesday morning. Washington Street resident, Bill Salamon, reported, “Water was shut off Tuesday evening when I arrived home from work.” Scott Goodchild said in a Facebook post, “It is a necessary inconvenience. Patience is key”.
Temporary repairs to the street were finished Thursday afternoon.
