Abracadabra! The court house was bathed in pink light! Abracadabra! Most of the parking spaces on Lee Street and surrounding lots were taken! Abracadabra! The court yards on Lee Street were filled with strolling musicians! Abracadabra! Greenville’s citizens, movers and shakers, and just plain ordinary folks came out to support one of Greenville’s premier charity events last night.
Katherine Ferguson, daughter of Greenville’s own Carol Ferguson, found an old top hat and Abracadabra! A-bra-ham, the bunny, popped out. Katherine was enthusiastic about the response Thursday night.
A check with the vote purveyors in front of the Uptown Forum predicted that this could very well be the case. A vigorous line of voters purchased votes for their favorite bra that was on display at the Texan Theater, the Uptown Forum and Landon’s Winery. Civic organizations, business, and individuals fashioned the most outlandish bras ever. The Hobby Depot’s proprietor, Gerry Satterwhite, entered a “training” bra complete with flashing lights and clanging bells. Bras for the Cause is a local event where 100% of the funds raised goes for care, treatment and prevention at our local hospital and stays in Hunt County.
The final tally ended the evening was the best to date raising $122,216. We would like to express our thanks to everyone who attended and supported this wonderful, magical evening!
