David Ellis called us and ask about the Collin Street Bakery in Greenville. “Did you hear that they were closing their doors?”. Ashley Hammons said, “Sunday will be the last day that the bakery will be open in Greenville.” She asked the clerk “why” and was told, “Business is not what the home office thought it would be”.

Milton Babb, in a Facebook comment said, “Sometimes location is not everything. Locating on the Interstate (I-30 East/west) does not mean success. Businesses often fail if they to not offer (and market) what is unique.”

A call was made to Collin Street Bakery public relations officials Chris Woolsey and Collin Street Public Relations contact, Hayden Crawford in Corsicana but they were not returned.

Collin Street Bakery and Pecan Fruitcake has been a Texas tradition since 1896. The store opened in Greenville four years ago.
