The Grand Old Party (GOP) Club of Hunt County held their forum highlighting candidates up and down the ballot for the March 6, 2018 Primary Election. Precinct Commissioners, Justice of the Peace, District County Clerks and judges showed up at the event held at the Landmark on Lee Street.
Hunt County News streamed the forum statewide. This writer was asked to present questions to the Texas State Representative candidates, incumbent Dan Flynn and challenger Bryan Slaton. The Texas Senate candidates were incumbent Bob Hall and Texas Representative Cindy Burkett. Hunt County News ask followers to participate by asking questions that they would like to hear. Subjects such as property taxes, schools, Speaker Strauss and pro-life issues took the forefront. Surprisingly, both Representative Flynn and challenger Slaton were in favor of a consumption tax. Both agreed that property taxes were forcing Texans out of their homes.
