The Brass Rail Cuts the Green Ribbon

Charles Helms opened a local pub called the Brass Rail at the Greenville Best Western Hotel in 1995.  The club continued on until 2014 when the owner died.  Melanie Acker Littlefield purchased the business.  A year or two after Melanie bought the pub a company known as United Housing purchased the old Best Western building.  The project was mismanaged for years and bills were not being paid.  Eventually the city shut off electricity and water service and the club known as The Brass Rail was forced to close.

Melanie said, “ It was a nightmare. The pub was closed for fourteen months until the Golden Chick arranged to lease part of their building”.  Today the Greenville Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting in the newly refurbished Brass Rail. Karaoke is every Friday and Saturday night from nine PM to 1 AM.  Come on out to the Brass Rail.  The pub is just like the one known as Cheers in Boston.  Yes, it is where everybody knows your name.
