He was preceded in death by his wife Helen and son Larry, his parents William Roscoe and Cora Canada, and sister Maurine. He is survived by his son Randy, daughters Sandra Donaldson (Larry) and Darla Shaffer (Tony), and grandchildren Christi Canada, Clint Shaffer, and Kyle Shaffer.
Roscoe was born in Dallas spending most of his youth in the Sulphur Springs area where he graduated high school. Following high school, he proudly served his country as a Merchant Marine in World War II traveling the globe.
Returning to Dallas in 1946, he met his future wife Helen whom he married in February 1947. In 1957 Roscoe started Canada Plating and Anodizing which he owned and operated for 60 years.
In 1952 Roscoe began a 65-year membership in the Masonic Lodge where he was elected Worshipful Master of Love Field Lodge 1274 and was appointed District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Texas. In 1999 he was also awarded the Golden Trowel for exceptional service to the Lodge.
Roscoe was affectionately known as Pa by his grandchildren whom he worshiped and was worshiped in return.
Roscoe was a generous man often throwing out basketballs that he kept in his truck to children on the sidewalk just so they had something with which to play. When family and friends needed part-time work, he often employed them at Canada Plating. He enjoyed handing out water at the neighborhood 4th of July parade talking with anyone who would stop.
He loved the family farm and spent most of his weekends with Helen in Greenville raising cattle, riding his tractor, and taking the opportunity to visit with the many friends he made there.
Funeral services will be held at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, 5100 I-30 (at US 69) in Greenville, TX on Wednesday, November 15, with visitation at 10 am followed by a service at 11 am and a private interment at Tidwell Cemetery in Greenville.
