Funeral services for Rex W. King of Caddo Mills are scheduled for 3 P.M., Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Reimold officiating. Burial will be in Caddo Mills IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. King passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018, in Greenville, Texas.
Rex was born October 26, 1934, in Brashear, Texas to Era Hale King and Douglas Dewitt King.
On October 29, 1953, Rex married his true sweetheart, Winnie Mae Wygal in the Hendrix Community outside of Caddo Mills. They shared 58 years together before her death in 2010.
He is survived by one son, Phillip King and wife Kathy of Caddo Mills; granddaughter, Keri Summers and husband, Cory; grandson, Brent King and wife, Heather; four great-grandchildren, Josie Summers, Jackson Summers, Case King and Colt King, all of Caddo Mills.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Mae, parents, Douglas and Era King, brothers and sisters, Bill King, J.D. King, Ruby Bridges and Wanda Davis.
Pallbearers will be Brent King, Cory Summers, Billy King, Gary Light, Jason Light and Don McKenzie.
Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren, Josie Summers, Jackson Summers, Case King and Colt King.
Rex’s career was in the Machinist field which he loved. He worked for U.S. Brass in Plano his entire career and retired after 43 years with the same company.
He was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for his antique cars.
His love for family was unquestionable and centered around his wife, kids, and grandchildren.
His faith in God, sense of humor and positive way of looking at life was a quality he demonstrated daily.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
