Less Than 3% of Registered Voters Set Course for the County and City

Less than three per cent of registered voters have set the course for the county and the City of Greenville.  There are 13,700 registered voters in the city.  Three-hundred and Thirty-two voted.  The county showed similar results in that less than 2 and a half per cent of the registered voters made the trek to the polls Saturday.

The Greenville City Council remains the same despite the Place 6 Councilperson having a challenge.  Six voters decided the fate of current council person Cedric Dean against the challenge of Kenneth Freeman.

Several propositions were on the city ballot.  These propositions expanded residency requirements for city employees to live in Hunt County or a county adjoining Hunt.  At one time the council passed a resolution every ninety days to continue the City Secretary’s employment. Another proposition added compensation requirements for reimbursed expenses incurred by council persons for official business away from Greenville.
