Judge John L. Horn

Hunt County News is saddened to report the death of Judge John L. Horn. Judge Horn was admitted to the hospital Friday night for an undisclosed illness.  Prayers for peace from his many friends were requested on various social media platforms. These same platforms exploded with news of John’s passing early on Monday, September the 3rd.

Hunt County Judge Horn was the executive officer of Hunt County. His position required him to fill the role of chief administrator and budget officer for the entire county. Also, he served on many North Texas regional advisory committees devoted to housing finance, senior living, transportation, and North Texas Council of Governments. Judge Horn’s dream was to see continued growth for Hunt County by soliciting new industry, working with developers to provide quality and affordable housing, and quality of life for all citizens of the county.

Judge Horn presided over the Commissioners’ Court and is a voting member of the Hunt County Commissioners’ Court. His official duties included overseeing the agenda process for Hunt County.

Judge Horn was a vital member of the Remember for Me organization co-founded by Julie Horn. Remember for Me is devoted to caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients. Many will remember John as a past Grand Master of the Greenville Lodge. He will be missed at various functions in and around Hunt County.

  1. So sorry for the family’s loss and of course all of hunt county . It sounds like this man was a wonderful man and now gods grace is upon him . So sorry for HCN for losing a wonderful man and a fellow Masonic brother . Peace be with you all ❤️
