Highway 34 Improvement Feasibility Studied

About 85 people showed up at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center for a question and answer session from Texas Department of Transportation officials from Paris about proposed improvements on Highway 34 from Interstate 30 in Greenville through Quinlan to the Hunt County line at County Road 2312 near the Cross Timbers Ranch.
Dan Perry, a director from the Paris, Texas office, said; “the project may take up to five years before construction begins. We do not have the funding to accomplish this improvement now” he said. Perry went on to say, “We are talking to stakeholders (communities, landowners) to see what is needed. How fast can we do it? The highway is extremely congested, and safety becomes a factor.”

Businesses are springing up like bluebonnets from FM 1903 through Cash to Boles Home. Sometimes there is no right of way available. The Cash Volunteer Fire Department, the constraints of the three-point intersection at Reames Market, and sharp curve and bridge at Boles Children’s Home were mentioned. The five-year plan will encompass feasibility, route location, design and finally construction.
