Gilbert Carrol Haywood, 82, of Dallas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in Rockwall. Funeral services celebrating Gilbert’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan with Pastor Ronnie Nalls officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at DFW National Cemetery at 2:15 P.M. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until service time.
Gilbert was born in Texarkana, Arkansas on February 10, 1933. He is the son of the late Homer Haywood. He was raised and graduated high school in Naples, Texas. He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the middle 1950’s. He was a self-employed carpet layer for many years in Dallas. He later worked for Walmart on Lake June in Dallas for 8 years before retiring in 2012. Gilbert married the former Hazel Weeks, she preceded him in death in 2012. He was of Pentecostal Faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, harvesting apples in Washington and playing pool.
He is loved and will be missed by his daughter Marion Johnson of Kaufman; brother Freddie Haywood of Tennessee; sisters Geraldine Campbell and Doris Haywood both of Naples, Texas; grandchildren Michille, Thomas and Chrisie; 9 great-grandchildren Britney, Christian, Tommy, Taylor, Lilet, Sabrina, Shawn, Jamie and Jeff.
