Many eons ago, the Prophet Jeremiah instructed the captives living in Babylon “to seek peace in the city that I have carried you”. Following that verse in Jeremiah 29 in our modern day Bibles, two dozen volunteers assembled at a home on the corner of Webb and Stonewall Streets to clean up and repair some of the damage that has occurred over the years.
This is the second For the City event in Greenville, Texas. Kavanaugh United Methodist Church Pastor John Kay brought the event to Greenville from Sherman last year. The program was so successful that several dozen churches teamed together to go out through the city to help those that do not have the resources. The teams repaired damaged window sills, trimmed brush, fix soffit and facia boards, mowed lawns, repaired water leaks and other task that overwhelm home owners.
Please stop and introduce yourself when you see a team at a home near you. The teal green shirts are a dead giveaway of a For the City crew improving a property.
