The intersection of Stanford and Stonewall Streets is one of the critical traffic by passes in South Greenville. This is especially true whenever Wesley Street is closed due to a traffic incident.
Residents along the half mile of Stonewall affected by the installation of storm and sanitary sewer lines, new gas lines, new water mains and reconstruction of the road take this in stride. One homeowner mused “I wonder what would happen if I went south on Stonewall for 150 feet into my driveway when there is no opposing traffic?”. Another said, “I just go down to the old Save-A-Lot store and cut through the parking lot and turn north”.
Traffic woes will be a challenge for the next eleven months or so as Stonewall Street is rebuilt.
