The Hunt County Commissioners met this morning, and the Greenville City Council will meet tonight. Topics on both agendas are budgets and taxes. The new budget will be adopted in less than a week. The proposed ordinances were read, and few people took exception. Perhaps Benjamin Franklin had it right when he said, “The only certainty is death and taxes.” Citizens are urged to attend the Commissioner’s Court and City Council meetings when essential topics such as taxes are discussed.

The Hunt County Commissioners Court approved amending Resolution 18-69 requesting the Texas House of Representatives, the Texas State Senate, and the Texas Department of Transportation consider renaming a portion of FM 1570 in honor of Judge John Horn.

The new roadway will begin in Greenville at the intersection of Texas 34 South, Wesley Street, and FM 1570, West Jack Finney Boulevard. The newly improved road connects Greenville with the hamlet of Caddo Mills and will terminate at US 380 in West Greenville. The new roadway will be called the John L. Horn Memorial Parkway.
