Cooper Arlen Daw, age 85, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 9th, 2019. He was born in Shelby County, Texas on April 20th, 1933 to parents Bronson Cooper & Elah Hughes Daw. Cooper grew up in Beauxart Gardens, Texas and attended school in Nederland, Texas. After graduation he attended the University of Houston on an athletic scholarship for football and baseball. After sustaining a shoulder injury, he transferred to Lamar State College of Technology and earned a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering. He married Jesse Ruth Baker on October 1st, 1953 and they went on to have 6 cherished children. Cooper had a diverse career, from Engineer to Executive Management, that took him across the globe. He was a well-respected Christian man who served as an Elder at 3 Church of Christ Congregations. He enjoyed international missions, golf, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife: Jesse Ruth Baker Daw; Sons: Randall Arlen Daw and his wife Debra Murphy Daw , Roger Trent Daw and wife Marcia Crawford Daw, Phillip Wayne Daw and wife Diana Hutchins Daw; Daughters: Karen Ruth Daw and her husband George Blaine House, Susan Diane Daw and Dianna J. Thomas, Carol Jane Cailler; Grandchildren: Jesse Clay Daw, Jeremy Patrick Daw, Jonathan Kyle Daw, Phillip Joel Daw, Katherine Rebecca Daw, Jeannie Ruth Daw, Emily Daw Boyle and husband Aaron Robert Boyle, Justin Michael Daw and Leslie Diane Nelson, Eric Phillip Daw and wife Amanda Lea Daw, Rachel Daw Hillock and husband Dustin Gene Hilllock, Eli Cooper Cailler; Great-Grand Children: Cooper Nelson Daw, Lola Ruth Hillock, and Arlen Burk Hillock.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bronson Cooper and Elah Hughes Daw; sister: Lewanda June Thompson and husband Jack Thompson; Daughter-in-law: Mary Mercer Daw.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Creekside Church of Christ, 6113 Jack Finney Blvd., Greenville, TX with Mr. Brandon Watson officiating. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
