A day of Christmas Cheer for the family!

gvilletexasfbphotoIn an attempt to ease the strain of holiday activities, the City of Greenville will be combining many events that were held across multiple days in previous years.

Capping off a wonderful day of Christmas activities the City will hold it’s first ever Christmas fireworks display in Market Square (where the Greenville Farmer’s Market resides) at 7:45 p.m.

Activities begin on Saturday, December 5th at 10:00 am with the Rafter P “Sleigh Bells Ringing 5K”. Registration for the event is available online at inparksweplay.com and onsite registration will begin at 9:00 am that morning.

From 2 – 5 p.m. youngsters can decorate cookies, have their face painted, play in a gaming truck, bounce in the bounce house and listen to Mrs. Claus read a story. From 3:30 – 5 p.m. the Home Depot Santa’s Workshop will be open where the kiddos can get their picture taken with Santa Claus himself.

The Christmas “Parade of Lights” will begin at 6 p.m. followed at 7:20 p.m. by the tree lighting.

As the fireworks light up the sky, the Greenville FFA Toy Drive Concert, featuring Doug Stone and John David Kent, will begin. This is a Free concert, but everyone is asked to bring an unwrapped toy for donation.

Have a safe and Merry Christmas, and most of all enjoy.
